About: SO SORRY. ALL WALKS SUSPENDED BECAUSE OF COVID-19
London’s best secrets and stories really are Hidden in Plain Sight (HiPS). How often have you walked past, or seen on TV, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, swinging Carnaby Street or London’s famous pubs, and wondered what's really going on there?
Who were the Hangers On at Tyburn? Why do we have to Mind the Gap at Bank? What is the Mayflower weather vane doing on top of Liberty London? Of course, you can find all these amazing sights on your own. But to really understand them, I offer you their stories after years of research, Tour Guiding examinations (yes, really), and 35 years living in London.
If you are a Londoner looking to learn and love more about your city, or a visitor wanting a different take on a Tour Guide’s view of the worlds’ greatest metropolis, get in touch and come on one of my Walks. Or ask me to build one for you.

Chris is a super storyteller, his passion for guiding shines through. I especially loved his anecdotes about how common idioms and phrases came into being – while some of the churches he took us to were breath taking. He even timed our visit to Leadenhall Market as dusk drew in, to ensure we would experience it at its twinkly best. All this art, nature, architecture and history above our heads and beneath our feet in the City of London. Who knew!?
– KD, Surrey
I was really impressed by Chris’s knowledge of the many sights hidden within London’s city walls. The Ruins, artefacts and tons of contrasting architecture that would normally go unnoticed. You truly scratch the surface of London to see what’s underneath. Literally. On our walk we uncovered a Roman road sitting beneath a church. Saw wonderful views from a freshly built skyscraper and learnt how business people used to trade in pubs down narrow cobbled alleyways whilst drinking copious amounts of beer.
– Jamie, Hampshire
Chris was an excellent guide whose niche is to show you the hidden parts of the city you didn’t know were there. His Old City East tour was throughly enjoyable and suitable for tourists and Londoners alike. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our tour and Chris is incredibly engaging, educated and easy to listen to.
– James, Horley
We did the 'Old City East' tour which has some great gems in it. Even though I have lived in London for five years Chris still managed to create a surprising experience full of new knowledge. He told us a lot of funny little anecdotes behind the names of places for example, it makes history come alive that little bit more. Great way to spend an afternoon!
– Denise, Folkestone
This tour kept my attention the whole way through! It’s given me a lot of interesting stories to pass on to friends, and secret sites I didn’t know about before. Would love to book another tour!
– Ben, Brighton
Our guide, Chris, had an insatiable passion for the history of the city, his knowledge of hidden gems you wouldn’t notice on your own was remarkable. I particularly enjoyed his observations on Christoper Wrens architecture, Leadenhall Market and nearby Jamaica Coffee House. A really insightful tour that left me with a newfound appreciation of London’s past.
